If your family/group is spread out over the length of the North Island, our lodge is situated in National Park in the middle of the North Island, next to beautiful Mount Ruapehu , making it an ideal half way meeting place for all travelling.
We have a large communal lounge area, ideal for relaxing, and catching up. There is a spacious games room, ideal for families with children.
Whether you want a relaxing time away to reconnect with friends or perhaps organise your get-together around an event eg Tongariro Alpine Crossing or biking our cycle ways, Pipers Lodge will compliment your stay, by giving you a memorable time.
Old Coach Road: This is a grade 2 mountain bike ride. It takes around an hour and a half - 2 hours. Easy surface to ride on, you don't need major mountain bike skills. Great ride if you haven't been on a bike for a while. The views are spectacular.
Fishers Track: Grade 2 mountain bike ride. Enjoy the steady 2km climb up a gravel slope, and then take in the 17km all downhill blast. Crossing grassy farm lands, and looking out across wide views of rural countryside. Great fun!! Good for all the family.
42nd Traverse: This is a more challenging ride. This is a grade 2-3 ride taking 4-6 hours. Good ride for those who want a bit more of a challenge.

This is a world renowned trek, with many listing this heritage walk 1 of the top 10 walks in the world.
A 19.4 kilometre trek across the most stunning of all terrain. on a clear day you will take in uninterrupted views as far as the skies take you. Impressive lava flows, the most vivid coloured crater lakes.
Walk alongside babbling brooks. Walk up to the top of the Red Crater, unpack your lunch, rest and take in that amazing feeling of being on top of the world, then walk out under the canopy of a beautiful forest.
This is one of those walks you need to cross off your bucket list. Make it a goal. Get a group of friends together and all share in this amazing 1 day hike. You won't be disappointed!!
